Philadelphia Electric Rates

For a Philadelphia home with PECO delivery service, compare the supply part of your bill with eligible supplier offers and PECO’s default supply option. Confirm your utility and rate class before using an advertised rate.

Find your PECO supply benchmark

Locate your current supplier, supply price and kWh on a recent electric bill. If PECO supplies your electricity, its Price to Compare is the relevant supply benchmark. If a competitive supplier appears, record that contract’s price too.

PECO’s official shopping guidance links to its current Price to Compare and explains why switching does not automatically save money. Delivery and other charges remain part of your bill.

Shop for your Philadelphia account

Enter your service ZIP in PA Power Switch and match PECO and your rate schedule. Check whether an offer requires a new customer, includes an introductory price, or has a monthly fee. Save its disclosure before enrolling.

If electricity is included in your rent, ask who holds the utility account before trying to change suppliers. A city address alone does not establish eligibility to select a plan.

Compare a supply offer with real usage

Example: at 500 kWh, 10¢/kWh plus a $10 monthly fee costs $60 for supply. An 11¢/kWh offer with no monthly fee costs $55. The apparently lower rate costs more at that usage. These are illustrative numbers, not current PECO rates; delivery, taxes and other applicable charges are additional.

Use several months of your own kWh, especially if heating or cooling changes your usage. Check cancellation costs and the renewal price before deciding. The rate-comparison checklist walks through the calculation.

Does PECO still handle outages after I switch?

Yes. PECO remains the delivery utility for a PECO account. Contact the utility for outages and service emergencies.

Will a fixed supply rate fix my whole bill?

No. Usage and other bill components can change even while the contracted supply price stays fixed.

Should I use the same offer as someone in Pittsburgh?

Only if the offer also covers your PECO account and its terms fit your needs. Pittsburgh’s Duquesne Light comparison uses a different utility benchmark.
